This is a great result and confirms measures the Club has undertaken to increase our revenues and reduce expenses.
The full audited results will be provided to the Board in the next month or so and be made available to all members prior to the Club’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 18th October.
BUILDING UPDATE
We are close to finalising drawings and specifications prior to issuing tender documentation to selected building companies for the redevelopment of the gaming room, bistro and bar, kitchen, kid’s playroom, new roof and a new smokers’ area for sports bar patrons. We are also improving the ‘back of house’ facilities including new cool rooms, staff lunch room and additional storage.
The plans will be put on display when finalised. We anticipate the building work to be started within the next few months and be completed early next year.
MEMBER & GUEST SAFETY REMINDER
As we approach spring and some very busy times ahead (football finals, spring racing, etc.) I believe it timely to remind everyone of our expectations in regard to appropriate conduct and behaviour in and around the Club. We have House Rules in place to enable all members, their guests and visitors to enjoy our Club’s great facilities in a friendly, social and safe environment. Management and staff are responsible for ensuring these House Rules are adhered to and we all must take responsibility to respect these rules at all times.

A Message from our President
GAMING MACHINE UPDATE – TOWARDS 2012
The Club’s application for an additional four gaming machines was recently approved by the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation. In its ‘Decision and Reasons for Decision’ the Commission concluded that: “There are measurable benefits that will flow to the community from the extra revenue, which is a small increase. The club is an important anchor for sporting and social activity in what is a disadvantaged area. Additional revenue from the four egms will enable improvements at the venue which will mean that more members and residents will have access to a greater range of sporting, social and entertainment offered by the club, thus enhancing community participation and well-being”.
The Commission also noted that: “The City of Greater Dandenong has supported this application and granted the necessary approvals. Furthermore, no objections were received from the community when the application was advertised”.
I believe this is true testament to the value of our Club in the community and the approval now clears the way for us to move ahead with our renovations and redevelopment program, a key component being upgrading the facilities in the gaming room.
I would like to thank all those involved in preparing the application, especially our manager Mark Hogan and the various consultants we engaged to assist with the approval process. The input to the application was of a very high standard.
2011 FINANCIAL YEAR TRADING
As reported earlier this year, the Club has been working diligently to reverse last year’s deficit. And I am very happy to report that we have finished the year in a very healthy position with an (unaudited) profit of more than $150,000.
