FEBRUARY 7 FRESHWATER Anywhere 14 adults 5 kids

Winner: Rocky Zarifopulos (the only person to catch fish), 1 black fish, 1 rainbow trout, .500kg Secret Weight: Rocky Zarifopulos (of course) Lucky Prize: Clare Besley Total Fish: 2 ~ 1 black fish, 1 rainbow trout, .500kg Total Weight: .500kg DH: Rocky won the DH: he got the dates wrong and thought last Tuesday's meeting was the AGM ?! Fred Popple was nominated for his look!! Using a beach umbrella on the banks of Casey Fields Lake (may be he was sensible).

A very hot 47ºC. 25 people turned up for the weigh in, after the cool change, at the shed for a free drink and cold meat, salad and rolls for tea.

Winner: Rocky Zarifopulos, 1 pike, 5 mullet, 1 flathead, 1 trevally, 3 bream, 3kg Runner Up: Kevin Roberts, 6 flathead, 3kg Ladies Winner: Susie McKenner, 1 flathead, .250kg Ladies Runner up: Clare Besley, 1 trevally, .200kg Junior Winner: Maddison Tierne, 2 snapper, 1 trevally, .950kg Secret Weight: Kevin Roberts Lucky Prize: Jeff Chique Total Fish: 28 ~ 5 trevally, 4 snapper, 9 flathead, 1 pike, 5 mullet, 3 bream Total Weight: 8.75kg Biggest Fish: .900kg flathead, Kevin Roberts DH: Shyam Wijesinghe he put back a gummy after being told by police (it was still on his line) it was way undersize. He had no ruler to prove them wrong. Rocky thought it was well over size !!!!!?????!!!! Should have had a ruler/tape measure anyway.

DECEMBER 7 Both Bays EVENT: BAY 14 adults 3 kids Very windy day AGAIN!

Winner: Kevin Roberts, 2 snapper, 2 flathead, 7.440kg Runner Up: Shyam Wijesinghe, 1 snapper, 2 rock cod, 1.240kg No ladies caught a fish Junior Winner: Madison Tierney, 1 mullet, .220kg **her first fish weighed in at the club** Secret Weight: Kevin Roberts Lucky Draw: Dave Tierney Total Fish: 10: 3 snapper, 4 flathead, 2 rock cod, 1 mullet Total Weight: 9.10kg Biggest Fish: Kevin Roberts: 3.260kg snapper (Kevin also won a rod (the only person with fish over 3 kg) DH Nominations: Rocky: Late for weigh in, got time wrong Bradly Souter: Late for weigh in and no shoes for the whole day Margaret Anderson: First trip in a boat since her accident, bought a new life jacket (kept it on all day) - asked her captain what she needed to bring and was told king prawns. She looked everywhere for king prawn for bait, couldn't find any. DH Winner: Clare: Caught 2 flathead, just the heads and carcase, thrown in for burly!

NOVEMBER 15 Both Bays EVENT: BAY 21 adults 7 children Good turn up at BBQ: 21 adults 7 children Thanks to all helpers

Winner: Kevin Roberts, 3 snapper, 6.30kg Runner Up: Shyam Wijesighe, 3 snapper, 2 trevally, 1 flathead, 5.40kg Ladies caught no fish. Junior Winner: Bradley Souter, 2 salmon, .350kg Total Fish: 13: 2 salmon, 6 snapper, 2 trevally, 2 flathead, 1 gummy shark. Total Weight: 13.650kg Secret Weight: Shyam Wijesinghe Lucky Draw*: Rod Besley DH: 3 winners: John Bertuna & Darryl Freeman turned up at weigh in 2 hours early. Garry Bennets forgot to undo boat from trailor & wondered why it wouldn't come off?! It was very windy, some people went out and came back in very quickly (Port Phillip). Others fished off piers. Westernport was a bit better but no fish. * Lucky prize can be won by adult or junior competitor, no need to catch a fish, just pay your $2 weigh-in money.

SEPTEMBER 20–21 Goulburn River Seymour EVENT: FRESHWATER 13 adults & 10 kids for ONE FISH! Plenty of fun though!

Winner: Rocky Zarifopoulos with 1 redfin - .500kg Secret Weight: Rocky Lucky Draw: Andrew Norman 6 Nomination for DH: Joshua & Gracie caught trees; Prue went arse up & lost a fish; Bailey fell in; Jeff fell off rocks; Tonia Thomas won the D.H. - She was caught by Max & Clare pulling up her pants from behind a stump!!! Rocky & Bailey caught out of season cod; a few crays were caught (they're out of season too) and a couple carp were caught.

AUGUST 2–3 Loch Sport EVENT: SURF 14 adults 2 children AND ... We all saw a number of big whales behind the breaking waves, and baby whales, and a mighty big one too! You don't see that everyday!

Total Weight: 14.5kg Biggest Salmon: Jack Besley, 1.75kg (whole) Secret Weight: Max Besley Lucky Draw: Fred Popple DH: Judy Chique won the hat and badge: She saw a toad fish swimming very quickly up the beach ... it was only Shyam bringing in his line with a clump of weed on it. Also, she asked Garry if there were water restrictions in Loch Sport - water tanks.

JULY 20 Bus Trip to Woolamai EVENT: SURF 27 adults 4 children Great trip, pity about the fishing, nice to see different participants and new members fishing.

Winner: Tonia Thomas, biggest salmon, .750kg Runner Up: Shyam Wijesinghe, 2 mullet, .250kg Ladies Winner: Tonia Thomas, 1 salmon, .750kg Junior Winner: Bradly Souther (new member), 2 salmon, .250kg Secret Weight: Tonia Thomas Lucky Draw: Clare Besley Total Fish: 5 fish: 3 salmon and 2 mullet. Total Weight: 1.25kg DH: Dick Parry walked 2 kms down the beach to set up rods before discovering the rod parts that did not match up - tops didn't match bottoms, had to walk back to the bus to find the correct pieces.

JUNE 7–9 Lake Tyers EVENT: ESTUARY 16 adults 4 children Another two members fished but did not weigh in. Four guests also fished with members.

Then the next day, while backing up in the caravan park, he hit a container?!

MAY 3–4 Loch Sport EVENT: SURF 14 adults 1 child

He thought he was sneaking up to Jeff Chique. Don't know who got the biggest surprise!!!

APRIL 19–20 Patterson River EVENT: ESTUARY 23 adults 12 kids

Winner: Shyam: 1 mullet, 1 trevally, total weight 400g Secret Weight: Shyam Lucky Draw: Dick Parry Great weather, uncooperative fish or ... Unfortunately, Shyam was the only person catching anything of club size. No ladies, juniors winners etc. DH: Fred, for driving to shop leaving rod set up which took a mulloway run. Judy tried in vain to haul the monster which nearly spooled the line but 6kg line did not hold as it ran into the canal system. Toby ended up swimming unintentionally whilst fishing. Many saw the tragic unfortunate wreckage of one of the boats involved in a collision, Saturday with the media attention, whilst we fished; as well as a boat which was engulfed in flames at the marina and drifted across the river in flames, a stark reminder to us all about safety on and about the water.

MARCH 9–11 Port Albert EVENT: BAY 15 adults 2 kids

Winner: Max: 34 salmon, 9 flathead, 1 mullet, 1 tailor Runner Up: Clare: 35 salmon, 5 flathead, 1 whiting Ladies RU: Susie: 1 gummy shark, 4 flathead, 1 salmon Junior Winner: No fish Total Fish: 170 fish, weight: 98.5 kg

CLUB COMPETITIONS:

The Anglers conduct monthly fishing events for points toward club championships and awards. There are Overall, Ladies and Juniors Championship points derived from the Fishing Disciplines in the categories of Surf, Estuary, Freshwater and Bay. Each of the categories have their individual champions. An annual Snapper trophy or Snapper Champion category runs along with best of species and fish of the month awards open to all members who weigh in and have verified a catch. Club records are held in Seniors and Juniors for a large variety of fish species. Monthly fishing competitions have a weigh in, BBQ/meal, drinks and brief presentations.
